Minsun Hong graduated with a dual degree in International Studies and Chinese Economy and Trade. Upon graduation, she volunteered to serve in the Korean Army as an interpreting officer and spent three years in the Ministry of National Defense. In this capacity, she worked closely on multiple Korea-U.S. alliance issues with the American counterparts in the United States Forces in Korea (USFK), Department of Defense, State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Korea.
She is enrolled in the dual-degree master’s program in Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and Tsinghua University International Relations Department. Minsun’s research interests include Northeast Asian studies; Korea-U.S. security cooperation; arms control; and international security. She is currently working in the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy as part of the Young Ambassadors Program.
