When people write, they often assume that their readers possess the same knowledge as they do. Because of this, writers often leave out crucial information or don’t explain concepts in a way their readers can understand. My job as a technical writer is part-translator and part-editor. I take documents written by other people and interpret it in my own words, so that the documents can be understood by a wider audience. As an employee of an IT company, I mostly deal with technical documents written by software engineers and designers.
