The DIS curriculum consists of a wide range of courses in the social sciences and humanities, with specializations in both international relations as well as international business and economics. The program attracts both domestic students with significant international experience as well as international students with an interest in studying in Asia. In recent years international students in the DIS have come from around the globe, including countries such as the U.S., France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, and Australia. Faculty members in the DIS also come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, including Korea, the U.S., Canada, and Denmark. It’s truly an international academic environment.
The DIS was founded on the recognition that there is a real need in the 21st century for a new generation of global citizens, equipped with interdisciplinary skills and an informed international perspective. The DIS caters that need by providing students with an interdisciplinary education and broad set of skills that enable them to find meaningful employment in government organizations, NGOs, multinational corporations, or research institutes. The motto of the DIS: “Turning Your Dreams into Global Opportunities!”
